Sortomatic is an original and challenging puzzle game with 40 levels of varying difficulty. Fast reactions are not required, and careful planning is rewarded.
It features bold, colourful graphics and four-way scrolling, coupled with measured, thinking gameplay.
The object of the game is to clear the coloured blocks from each level. When three or more blocks of the same type are pushed together, they will disappear, so the idea is to sort all the blocks into groups of the same colour. The different colours are also marked with different designs, to make it extra easy to tell them apart.
Note though, that a block can only be pushed, so there must be room for our robotic hero to get behind it, and there must be an empty space for it to be pushed into. Also, watch out for unusual numbers of blocks: if there are four blue blocks and you make a group of three, then you'll be left with one you can't get rid of, and will be unable to solve the level.
If you ever make a mistake, or put yourself in a position from which it is impossible to win the level, then the current level can be restarted from the main menu.
Sortomatic uses custom menu screens, but they are navigated as usual: up and down to move between items, left softkey to confirm, and right softkey to cancel and go back to the previous menu. From the main menu, the right softkey will exit the game. Any softkey will exit the Instructions or About screens, and the direction keys page through the instructions.
In the game itself, the 4-way navigation controller or the number keys 2, 4, 6 and 8 can be used to control the movement of your robot. Walk into a block to push it. The softkeys will bring up the main menu, and the red "End Call" button will exit the game.
Sortomatic is the first in the Robot Brain series from Crane Style Software. Look out for further games in the series.
Sortomatic is available to buy now from Nokia Software Market.
